Request an Open Shift

The Metro Witnessing app has a feature that allows participants to fill open shifts as they come available. This feature is optional and must be enabled in the system settings. When enabled, any participant can select a shift following these simple instructions.

OPEN SHIFTS LIST

To find what shifts have an opening, go to the Home screen in the Metro Witnessing web app (metro-witnessing.org), and click on the AVAILABLE tab. This will show a list of shifts with openings, if any are available. The number of openings is also shown. Click on one of the shifts in the list to see more details.

OPEN SHIFT DETAILS

In the Open Shift Details view, it shows the time, location, and other participants assigned to that shift. Simply click the Request This Shift button to volunteer to fill the opening. After clicking the button, you will be asked to confirm your request. Once you confirm, the system will check if the opening is still available. It is possible that someone else volunteered to fill this opening at the same time, thus it may not be available. If the opening is still available, you will be assigned and an email will be sent to you.

OPENINGS FOR COUPLES

If a shift has more than one opening, a married couple or family group can volunteer to fill the openings together. In this situation, if you select a shift with enough openings, you will notice an extra button shows that will request 2 or more openings for a married couple or family group. At this point you have the choice to request one opening for yourself with the blue button, or request openings for you and your group partners with the orange button.

If you click the orange button, you will be asked to confirm that you are requesting spots on this shift for your whole group. Click the REQUEST button to confirm. If the openings are still available, you and your group partners will all be added to the shift and each member of the group will be sent an email with the details.
